Shake James’ adidas Adistar Control 5 “Cranberry” Is All About The Power Of Community

Following multiple Milwaukee-inspired “414 Day” Forum Lows and an adidas IIInfinity collection, Eric “Shake” James and adidas are reconvening for another project to close out 2025. This time, the Milwaukee entrepreneur’s partnership moves away from retro basketball and into the tech runner space with a collaboration on the resurgent Adistar Control 5.

The 2008-born tech runner arrives in a black and red colorway that carries deep meaning in its inspiration. At its core, the sneaker pays homage to Wisconsin’s state fruit, the cranberry. Shake James is deeply rooted in the Milwaukee community, owning two retail stores and regularly giving back through local events. Over the past few years, he’s become the go-to collaborator for “414 Day” Forum Low releases celebrating the city and its people. This new design takes on more personal symbolism, referencing James’ long battle with cancer — something he kept private from nearly everyone and is now thankfully well behind him. The rich red tones represent the warmth, strength, and pride of the people of Milwaukee who helped rebuild his foundation. The left tongue features a panel reading “999,” likely a nod to the angel number symbolizing completion, spiritual growth, and new beginnings.

As with every Shake James project, the release coincides with a series of community events, including a sneaker fair, comedy show, and more (keep an eye on Shake James’ IG for updates). The Adistar Control 5 “Cranberry” releases in-store and online through CLICKS on November 15th, 2025. See detailed images below if you’re planning to cop.
