Rukus Goes Duck-Hunting For Their New Balance 480 Collaboration

A generations-old tradition.

Rukus Goes Duck-Hunting For Their New Balance 480 Collaboration

New Balance Numeric has been on a run. While the sub-brand has been a factor in skateboarding circles for far longer, 2025 has seen the label usher in some of its buzziest product to date (Andrew Reynolds’ 933 chief among them) and several grassroots collaborations with faces from around the industry.

In kind, the Boston brand now heads down South, teeing up a collaboration with Louisiana’s Rukus (perhaps recognizable to our readership for their 2014 SB Dunk Low design). Taking over the New Balance Numeric 480, the Gulf Coast retailer looks to the region’s rich history of duck hunting to light this link-up. Overall, this pair eschews any deep patterning on the shoe itself, instead pulling rich brown suede and vibrant feathery tones on tumbled leather in the panels adjacent from the noble mallard. An iridescent “N” logo at the quarter is perhaps the best expression before orange bills inspire the textile lining and cup sole.

It’s in special box packaging where things truly get heady, as duck camo print envelops the shoe box, an shimmering dust bag is included inside, and a range of Rukus-branded hunting accessories like a bird call and binoculars accompany the shoes themselves.

The Rukus x New Balance Numeric 480 drops on December 6th via Rukus and an associated release/block party. Wider launch details via NB are unclear at the time of this writing. While you wait, get up and close with this duck hunt pair via the galleries above and below, and keep our Sneaker Release Dates hub within reach for any additional updates.
