Matt Varga Shifting over to 2026 means closing the book on one of the most unmissable stories in footwear: the year-long celebration of the Air Max 95. While there’s still much to see from Sergio Lozano’s design in the new year, Nike is adding one final candle on its cake with the Air Max 95 “Black Leather.”
In what will likely be the final Air Max 95 release of its 30th anniversary, Nike returns to familiar territory, decking out the retro model in “Triple Black” aesthetics. As our title would suggest, the compositional changes with this pair are also of note, ditching the reliable suede that paints the model’s most lasting looks in favor of textured leather; tumbled and perforated counterparts dot the upper for a glossy look.
This Frank Cooker-approved edition is partially inspired by the Nike Air Max 95 Lux, a Made in Italy variation that’d provide the starting point for Supreme’s 2019 re-take. Though distinct from it, a Jewel Swoosh version also hit shelves earlier this year, departing with a run of mesh down the midline despite the shared nocturnal palette.
