Doublet’s first ASICS collaboration was arguably one of the strongest of 2024, a GEL-Kayano 20 featuring a design inspired by cardboard shoe boxes, just the kind of wonderfully weird thing that makes us giddy to log on and scour the net for upcoming product every day. Once again exploring the deepest corners of its imagination, the Japanese streetwear label has reconvened with its countryman on another sneaker dropping in the near future, this time giving the GEL-Quantum 360 a total reimagination inspired by the Tyrannosaurus Rex.
To the uninitiated, the GEL-Quantum 360 is a 2010s running silhouette that’s since been brought back for the modern day, first by an all-white JJJJound collab in June 2025. Doublet’s pair comes straight out of the Cretaceous Period, stripping away the model’s usual layering and replacing it with a large leather panel featuring a T-Rex head print, complete with eyes around the quarter and nostrils around the toe.
Why Doublet chose such an outside-the-box design theme is beyond us, but it’s not all too difficult to see where the ball might have gotten rolling. The segmented, 360-degree GEL cushioning capsules within the midsole here play the role of white T-Rex teeth, blending in seamlessly with the print up top. Joining the two areas is a splice of textured red detailing, perhaps taking after the carnivore’s gums. A custom matching shoe box is included with the shoes, featuring equally clever placements of the eyes, nostrils, and teeth. At the end of the day, dare we say these are surprisingly wearable for a sneaker so seemingly out of left field.
The Doublet x ASICS GEL-Quantum 360 “Tyrannosaurus Rex” releases January 9th, 2026 through atmos in Japan. No word on a larger global release has been announced as of this writing, but we’re certainly crossing our fingers.
