Cincinnati retailer Unheardof released what was arguably its most notable adidas collab to date last year, taking over the ‘net with a limited, pork-inspired take on the Adistar Cushion 3. Some had the “Piggy Runners” ranked highly on their personal Sneaker of the Year lists, while others weren’t nearly as fond of the project (because all-pink sneakers are hardly for everyone).
No matter where you fall on that spectrum, you’ve gotta admit that the “Piggy Runner” discourse was loud enough to warrant a follow-up. Unheardof founder Philip Lipschutz is currently in Paris for Fashion Week, and he brought some goodies with him. The “Piggy Runner” theme is indeed coming back, this time appearing on the resurgent Adistar Control 5 in a mostly green as opposed to pink colorway. Faux pig hair stripes remain a focal point, as do pig-inspired graphics on the tongue and heel.
The first “Piggy Runner” was supported by a nuanced narrative, championing self-expression and traits that might have gotten you outcast (or “roasted”) back in school. The sneaker also tied into Cincinnati’s longstanding history in pork manufacturing, which earned the city the nickname “Porkopolis” back in the 19th century. We’re curious to learn what the shift from pink to green here might symbolize, assuming there is in fact some intention beyond pure aesthetics.
As for the model at hand, the Adistar Control 5 is a stability running relic from the late 2000s that’s been pulled back for the modern day. Inline styles have thus far been supported by a number of collabs from names like Sporty & Rich, Shake James, WOODstack, and more to come.
No release info for the Unheardof x adidas Adistar Control 5 “Piggy Runner” has been announced yet, but a Spring/Summer 2026 drop seems likely given the timing of the teaser. We’ll keep our coverage up to date with any and all info.
