Matt Varga For the Three Stripes heads, there are few bigger current stories than the adidas Bob Marley efforts, first struck with the SL 72 in 2024 before revitalized for what’s becoming a sprawling celebratory collection. Now adding to the EVO SL and Handball Spezial is a return to where it all started, as a fresh edition of the SL 72 joins this new push.
Though delivered on what’s been a lowkey silhouette for the German giant, nonetheless this stands as the most expressive of all the pairs we’ve seen so far. The key aspect is a geometric pattern on the shoe’s fabric base, with concentric circles, sun-like radials, and squiggly line work defining that section. Of course, it’s the red/green/yellow palette that nods to Marley’s Jamaican heritage and Rastafarian links that defines the shoe as a whole. Finally, a hallmark of all of these new pairs, a tag reading “Football is Religion” stands proudly on the tongue.
