Andrew Rizzo In what’s shaping up to be one of the hottest summers on record, the hero of any outdoor function is whoever shows up with a cooling solution. More often than not, that remedy comes in the form of a traditional Chinese paper fan, a go-to for centuries that’s still worth its weight in gold when the weather hits triple digits. That often-unsung hero now inspires an Air Jordan 1 Low SE release, coming soon to Asian retailers.
The inspiration is made clear on the lateral side of the heel, where a debossed paper fan graphic houses hidden “Jordan” text. That detail, while charming, isn’t even the defining feature. The Swoosh is made from knot-like 3D puff embroidery in Night Purple, a potential physical embodiment of a cool breeze. Black and Vintage Green leather forms the bulk of the upper, while the midsole sports a pre-yellowed, vintage-minded tint. Last up is the tongue, taken with a mesh background and custom crest branding.
