Matt Varga adidas and Hellstar’s collaborative partnership was already headline-worthy enough upon its original announcement, bringing the streetwear titan, particularly influential within younger demos, into the fold with the German giant. Yet perhaps more noteworthy is just how prolific they’ve been since the rubber hit the road; just under a year since joining up, adidas x Hellstar has brought nine distinct pairs into the world.
With their work on the adidas Superstar now ostensibly concluded, Hellstar has moved onto the adidas Megaride S2 as their favored silhouette. Of course, Megaride platforms have been a buzzy topic for adidas through the World Cup and its adoption by Willy Chavarria, yet Hellstar has picked out a true Y2K expression as their model de jour.
Building off of a simplistic black-on-white, they’re now looking to a gradient-filled red colorway, both in the exterior shell and the underlying mesh, revealed with edgy, sharp cut-outs on the lateral and medial sides. Aside from the footwear angle, the two partners are also dropping a wide-ranging apparel collection, utilizing co-branded detailings on hoodies, sweats, tracks, and beanies.
