Matt Varga The rumor mill has been quiet on Bad Bunny’s next album, but the DtMF sensation is amid a new era all the same. Having established a massive legacy on adidas classics from the Powerphase to the F50 Ghost Sprint, the Puerto Rican multi-hyphenate took a serious step by unveiling the BadBo 1.0 and 1.1, his first signature shoes under the Three Stripes.
The Badbo 1.1 functions as a low-top reinvention of the original silhouette, which was dropped earlier this year after being worn during the Super Bowl halftime show. While its taller sibling has about half a dozen colorways either revealed or released, the Badbo 1.1 is adding to a nascent arsenal with this “Simple Brown” edition, which pairs textured suede in the shade with soft pink synthetics a layer below. In a touch seen across the BadBo family, this design rounds out with a classy white/gum sole unit.
Benito’s residency on the Gazelle Indoor offered a chance for the Grammy winner to explore more colorful fare, expressed through the “El Yunque,” “San Juan,” and “Cabo Rojo.” Further, silhouettes like the Ballerina and Adizero SL 72 furthered the same vibrant mission. Surely that sort of aesthetic isn’t out of reach for the greater Bad Bunny x adidas empire, but the Badbo 1.0 and 1.1 have signaled a return to the earthier aesthetics seen on his Campus or Forum catalog.
