Matt Varga Especially in the wake of some extremely high-level injuries to the Oklahoma City Thunder, it all of a sudden looks like the Houston Rockets have made it a three-team race at the top of the Western Conference. Getting Fred VanVleet back from injury to set up Alperen Sengun and the variety of wings in H-Town has been an absolute blessing. It never hurts to employ a world-beating offensive force like Kevin Durant, either. With much of the “Candies” pack in the rearview, we’re now beginning to think through future plans for Durant’s 19th silhouette, and a trip back to campus is evidently in store via a “Villanova Wildcats” KD 19 colorway featured here.
Given the emphasis on monochrome metallic colorways through the first few months of the model’s rollout, we’ve had a watchful eye on when the silhouette breaks from that flooded scheme. This “Villanova” KD 19 is notable for doing exactly that, applying aquatic blue throughout the upper before navy takes over the outsole and the TPU “dagger.” A white midline comprised of the tongue, collar, and lace unit pushes further beyond those simplistic bounds. Though this pair comes to light with little in the way of release information, the unabashed Villanova logo on the tongue likely pushes this closer towards the world of PEs than of public releases.
We must note that it’s ultimately unclear whether the Nike KD 19 “Villanova” is a simple college PE or something that will be eventually released to the public. Given the highly specific branding elements here, our money would be on a university exclusive, but stranger things have happened.
