Since re-entering the sneaker market thanks to Teddy Santis, the New Balance 550 has become highly-coveted among collectors seeking out low-top basketball sneakers from the 1980s. And while it’s widely-associated with Aīme Leon Dore, the silhouette has garnered attention on its own merit.
In-line efforts from the Boston-based brand have brought a handful of primary color and collegiate styles to the 32-year-old design. Premium perforated leather and soft suede construction across New Balance‘s vintage foray into basketball heavily favor an understated white and light grey color palette, but they haven’t minded sharing the spotlight with a cast of tones. Soon enough, a rich green will animate the plump “N” logos at the mid-foot, branding on the tongue and heel, and a number of functional and aesthetic components across the New Balance shoes.
Enjoy images of the 550 here below, and anticipate a release on June 24th for the usual $110 USD.
Elsewhere under the NB umbrella, the New Balance 990v6 has been teased ahead of its 2022 debut.
