In mid-December 2021, size? teased three New Balance 550 collaborative pairs, further adding fuel to the sneaker model’s “moment.” Recently, the U.K.-based retailer confirmed an April 7th release date for its trio.
As the history of the New Balance 550 tells it, the Steven Smith-designed silhouette has historically favored simple two-tone, college-friendly colorways since debuting in 1989. The team at size?, however, abandons the hoops-inspired arrangements in favor of an outdoors-friendly design spearheaded by Cordura fabric. The water-resistant suede and mesh that covers the New Balance sneakers boast trail-ready brown, grey and green, while made-for-basketball sole units opt for complimentary black and beige styles. “size?”-branding is stitched onto each shoes’ sock-liners, marking the special occasion between both institutions.
