This Jordan Mars 270 Is Inspired By One Of Michael Jordan’s 1992 Dream Team Photoshoots

By nature, Spike Lee’s Jordan Spiz’ike and Son of Mars lines pay homage to a host of iconic Air Jordan silhouettes and have been hybridizing classics like the Jordan 3 and Jordan 6 into modern, but rooted-in-heritage models since 2006 and 2012, respectively. The Jordan Mars 270, designed by Jackson Lewis Lee, continues this tradition of remixing by not only mish-mashing pairs the likes of the Jordan 1 and Jordan 5, but also infusing Nike’s Air Max 270 cushioning to the basketball-inspired model. This forthcoming release takes the homage-paying a step further with the fan-favorite “Concord” color scheme, notably seen at the tongue and midsole. While the white/black/purplish color combination is most often associated with the Jordan 11, the palette first graced an Air Max 180 – worn by Michael Jordan in a photoshoot for the 1992 Olympics – at least three years before the patent-leather sneaker captivated fans everywhere. Given its golden profile swooshes and split “NIKE” branding near the ankle and on the insole, this Mars 270 is undoubtedly tributing the AM180 – which features these two details – and not its more famous “Concord” relative.
