As one of the largest fashion capitals in the world, Japan is constantly under a vigilant eye in regards to its characteristically strong craftsmanship. One such label that continues to bring that keen attention to detail to an entire subculture of garments is nanamica, an outdoors-focused atelier that is known most notably for their work on the North Face Purple Label. Designer Eiichiro Homma has a proven track record of 15 years in the industry, which he is now infusing into his upcoming partnership with New Balance’s Tokyo Design Studio.
Using the new R_C1 as a means of celebrating the Boston-based brand’s overwhelming popularity within the country, the collaborative release will usher in a premium GORE-TEX fabrication and a distinctive earth tone color scheme to the 1300-inspired silhouette. The upper is heavily reminiscent of classic New Balance offerings while the innovative ENCAP Reveal midsole offers a more aggressive contrast to the overall minimal aesthetic. The two colorways, as well as the capsule’s accompanying apparel, will launch at all nanamica locations on October 27th and select retailers on November 10th for a retail of $180 USD.
