Jovani Hernandez Although the Nike Air Max 1 isn’t celebrating a milestone anniversary year, it’s capitalized on 2020 to emerge in a handful of both compelling in-line and special ensembles. The latter has included nods to Air Max hubs, the mythical Powerwall Collection from 2006, and a collaboration with the denim experts at DENHAM, which arrives on September 18th.
First teased back in June, the pair delivers an understated color palette emboldened by its material choices. “Blue Void” suede mudguards wrap around the easy-to-break-in denim base replete with Boro stitching. Profile swooshes also feature contrast stitching, which shares its red hue with detailing on and around the tongue, sockliner, and Airbag. “Vachetta Tan” finds its way onto the leather tongue label, as well as the branded heel overlay, while complementing the light gum brown outsole underfoot. The Amsterdam-based brand rounds out its first of three joint-efforts with the Swoosh by adding scissor logos to the insole, wooden lace-tips, and sneaker dust bags; black “DENHAM The Jean Maker” text lines the inner leather collar.
