AURALEE, the Japanese label whose expertise lies in high quality, timeless pieces, recently unveiled their full AW21 collection. Alongside their wide, draping trousers and monochromatic outerwear, the Ryota Iwai led imprint unveiled their latest collaboration with New Balance: a simple, visually aged take on the 550 silhouette.
Though originally intended to hit the basketball court, the 550 has recently taken a new lease on life as a lifestyle hero. Thanks in part to Aime Leon Dore’s influence, the model has become a hit throughout the more fashionable ends of sneaker culture, dressing just below the hems of Carhartt painters and Dickies slacks. Here, AURALEE has proposed a look that’s — in a sense — far truer to vintage. The leather upper bears a slightly yellowed, off-white finish, its tonal look mirroring that of the mainline apparel’s palette. Below, the midsole is aged to a far greater degree, contrasting both the aforementioned panels and the complementing neutrals that support both above and underfoot.

In other news, the New Balance X-Racer Trail Phantom is available right now.
