Long-time collaborators NEIGHBORHOOD and adidas have recently tapped retailer, END., for a two-shoe collaboration inspired by football’s (soccer) terrace culture.
The adidas Samba has been a mainstay within the athletic space since it debuted in 1949. Throughout the decades, the low-top sneaker has assumed the role of “uniform” among many football fans that’ve graced the terraces at stadiums across the United Kingdom. (The terrace has traditionally been located behind the two goals and have served as a cheaper viewing section for many working class-supporters.) Forgoing any team colors or insignias, the three-way collaboration outfits the German sportswear company’s longest-running model in production in a black and leopard makeup, the latter detailing taking over profile 3-Stripes and the upper heel panel.
By contrast, the accompanying adidas Campus goes all-in on the wild cat-inspired print, donning it from tip of the toe to rear. Profile branding, laces and upper heel reinforcement deliver stark black contrast to their eye-catching surroundings. “NEIGHBORHOOD” text appears on both adidas Originals models on the lateral side, with the older silhouette of the two boasting the Tokyo-based brand’s name at the heel.
This football-themed duo arrives to END. Launches on June 25th. While you wait, enjoy images of the shoes ahead.
Elsewhere under the Three Stripes umbrella, the YEEZY KNIT RUNNER is anticipated to debut before 2021 ends.
