Since partnering with NIKE, Inc. in 2017, Virgil Abloh has been a mainstay within sneaker conversations, and his upcoming “The 50” and Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 collections have further cemented the Illinois-native as a force within the space. Most recently, Abloh revealed release details for the Off-White Air Force 1 “Lemonade” first rumored in May 2020.
Created in celebration of the designer’s “Figures of Speech” art exhibit at ICA Boston (running from July 3rd to September 26th), the near-tonal “University Gold” pair is set to launch soon via select Off-White™ boutiques. Now, this doesn’t rule out a Nike SNKRS release, but it does welcome the possibility of this pair being that much more limited. Akin to other pairs associated to endeavors Abloh has carried out at art institutions, the forthcoming Air Force 1 boasts crackled “Metallic Silver” profile swooshes accompanied by contrasting black zig-zag stitching and vibrant orange tabs. Exposed foam at the tongue and collar, zip-ties and Helvetica text on the medial mid-foot and lateral midsole round out Off-White’s next of many projects, which will unquestionably sell-out.
Enjoy images of the shoes ahead, and anticipate a release any day now.
