Jasmine Tang As we’ve seen throughout recent months, developments in Nike’s “Move To Zero” front have never reached a standstill—and are far from reaching one as well. Whether it’s rebuilding classic silhouettes such as the Nike Blazer Mid using sustainable materials or crafting whole new silhouettes like the Nike Cosmic Unity, the Swoosh continues to push the boundaries of environment-oriented footwear. The brand’s latest efforts include using recycled materials for decorative elements of an upcoming Nike Air Force 1.
For a lifestyle-friendly look, the pair sees a stark white leather base that is complemented by overlays in an off-white shade (possibly “Sail”). Each of the profile Swooshes is composed of a stitched-on layer of mesh that encases recycled content exhibiting a grey and white marble-like effect. Although Regrind rubber is often applied underfoot, the speckled material makes its way onto the heel tab to form the “Move To Zero” Pinwheel logo. The Crater foam sole unit also boasts blocks of Regrind rubber for a wholly-speckled look, rounding out the design. Overall, this AF 1 is yet another testament to the innovation and creativity of Nike’s eco-conscious campaign.
