Bad Bunny maintained a relatively low-profile throughout the second half of 2021, but he’s started out the new year with handfuls of headlines. In addition to recently promising fans a new studio album and 29-stop stadium tour (“The World’s Hottest Tour”), Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio has also been tantalizing the sneaker world with his adidas collaboration.
While the Puerto Rican superstar hasn’t disclosed release date details for previously-surfaced adidas Originals models, the 27-year-old has (unofficially) unveiled yet another project from his partnership with the Three Stripes in the form of a Forum Powerphase. Built atop a made-for-basketball sole unit that debuted in 1984, Bad Bunny’s upcoming sneakers make their boldest statement via their upper, which features a panel layout borrowed from the workout-oriented Powerphase from 1987.
In addition to a medley of disparate colors, the collaboration’s top-half boasts various materials. Their layered arrangement creates a much “rawer” and ambitious design than @sanbenito’s adidas Forum or even adidas Response CL. Hits of brown, pink and black seemingly nod to past releases between “El Maldito Conejo” and the Three Stripes, while undeniably speaking to the artist’s affinity for that which is different. All of the co-branding that’s appeared on Bad Bunny’s footwear thus far reprises its roles, and features an all-new “BENITO” message on the lateral mid-foot, marking the first time the reggaetonero’s birthname lands on a sneaker.
Enjoy official images of the Forum Powerphase by Bad Bunny here below, and expect an adidas CONFIRMED app release around August, when the artist’s stadium tour begins.
