Action Bronson hasn’t been shy about his love for New Balance footwear since entering the cultural zeitgeist in the early 2010s. A decade later, the Queens-native is set to finally get his own collaboration.
After a failed joint-effort with adidas, the 38-year-old seemed turn off from footwear partnerships, but the last year has seen Bronsoliño sport various models within the 990 series across television appearances, tours and other activities. The rapper’s time on All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has served as an opportunity to show further support to the Boston-based institution, with his most recent appearance in the ring unveiling what’s believed to be the long-awaited Action Bronson x New Balance 990v6 collaboration.
“Bam Bam Baklava” teased aa co-branded sneaker box back in May, as well as the forefoot of a pair with similarities to the shoes he wore during his latest cameo for AEW: mesh base layers indulge in a vibrant neon green color while surrounding leather panels deviate in a muted brown hue. Pairs worn on-air and teased via Instagram Stories both don purple-accented rope laces, but the former boast silver and grey panels along the tongue and across profile “N” logos. FullCell foam cushioning underfoot, however, is clad in varying shades of blue, perhaps as a nod to the artist’s hometown New York Knicks team, though inspiration behind the disparate arrangement has yet to be unveiled. Yet, what’s certain is that an NB collaboration for Action Bronson is well-deserved.
