As one of the New-England based brands oldest and most beloved lifestyle silhouettes, the New Balance 574 has most recently presided as a collaborative heavy offering, cooking up disparate constructions via the aid of Junya Watanabe, Bodega and Salehe Bembury throughout this past year. Following their 2002R “Refined Future” pack, Extra Butter’s creative director – Bernie Gross – recently revealed a scrapped trio of legacy collaborations.
Inspired by the wave of Western cultures prep school aesthetics that touched down across Japan through the 50’s and 60’s, the model extends its perforated white leather base across the midfoots “N” logo while faded “Sail” suede overlays preside above. Proffering synonymous ivy style hues, the heel counter’s on each build differ between burgundy, forest green and royal blue which shades come color-matched along the mainstay insignias trim. Affixed with golden metallic “NB” branding, the design elements conclude via an embossed Extra Butter tongue tab and grey ENCAP sole unit sitting above a gum tread.
While the pairs never got around to releasing, enjoy a first and only look at the pair via Gross’ Instagram. Would you have copped a pair of the Extra Butter x New Balance 574 Legacy’s?
For more under the Boston brand’s umbrella, the latest slate of Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 550’s are set to release tomorrow.
