The New Balance 650 has been a tougher sell than the shorter 550, but it’s helped the New England institution the hearts (and money) of consumers enamored with sneaker designs from the 1980s. Before 2022 officially closes, the silhouette has emerged in a tried-and-proven black, red, and white color combination.
Akin to other takes on the New Balance 550 predecessor, the newly-surfaced pair indulges in a leather and fabric construction across the upper. The majority of the sneaker’s top-half boasts a pitch-dark finish, with ruby-colored contrast animating everything from the “650” text at the lateral quarter panel to the collar area. Stability structures around the heel follow suit, as do zones of the multi-directional traction underfoot. Lastly, the vintage New Balance design features a white midsole that not only harkens back to a time when footwear designs–in particular within the performance realm–were simpler, but also allows for the black and red color due to revel in the spotlight.
Enjoy product shots of the pair ahead, and anticipate a newbalance.com launch soon.
