Initially teased in October 2022, a grey New Balance 991 by JJJJound is set to drop on Feb. 9 and 17.
The seventh linkup between the North American institution and Montreal-based design studio, the upcoming sneakers enjoy a muted, but premium outfit. Pig suede, leather, and mesh materials throughout the upper divvy up shades of grey, brown, and black. Yet, Justin R. Saunders’ latest New Balance project – the first Made In UK – falls in line with other grey-accented sneaker collaborations with other brands. A counterpart to the muted proposition hasn’t been revealed, as was the case with a past NB 992, but JJJJound may have a green-colored NB 991 in the works.
The creative studio’s name is stamped on the heel and sock-liner, leaving all other branding hits intact from the shoes’ original blueprint from 2001. Visible ABZORB cushioning speaks to the turn of the 21st century, as does the Ndurance traction underfoot. Together, each aforementioned component comes packaged in an unassuming, co-branded shoe box. Additional black laces offer a break from the style’s default cream laces.
Enjoy official images of the pair ahead. The sneakers will first launch via JJJJound.com on Feb. 9, whereas a newbalance.com launch is scheduled on Feb. 17.
