The Nike Air Max 1 is no longer celebrating a milestone anniversary, but the silhouette continues to form an important part of the brand’s roster.
Over the past seven months, Tinker Hatfield’s iconic design has emerged in handfuls of new styles, while also returning in true-to-original form via the ‘86 version (which features a big bubble). Recently, the Air Max pioneer surfaced in an eye-catching “Volt” makeup. The neon green color isn’t new to Hatfield’s creation, but its application on the new pair is. Panels around the forefoot, along the mid-foot, and across the heel indulge in a “Volt”-colored leather, while the gaps in between opt for a fabric done in a lighter shade of green. Furthermore, the underlays indulge in a topographic pattern that injects further personality into the shoe. Given how other Nike Air Max sneakers have appeared with similar design cues, it’s possible the pair is part of a larger Nike Sportswear collection inspired by the great outdoors. Lastly, the sole units underfoot keep things straightforward with a “White” midsole and “Volt” waffle-patterned outsole.
Enjoy official photos of the pair ahead, and anticipate a nike.com launch soon.
