Though information has been meted out on a limited basis, one of this year’s biggest open secrets is the importance of the New Balance 1000. Initially rumored to make its return from the archives in collaborative fashion a la the New Balance 550, it’s becoming more and more likely we’ll get introduced to the “new” model as a general release first.
While the New Balance 1000 “Pink/Tan” we reported on yesterday is anticipated for a drop at the end of the year, the “Silver Metallic” edition at hand is a lot more immediate. As far as debut colorways go, the palette that dresses this pair relies on a formula that’s bore fruit for the brand before, heavily utilizing chrome leather over top and an aged misole underfoot.
As compared to that aforementioned colorful pair, this metallic counterpart also clarifies a traditional color-blocking scheme first previewed with the Joe Freshgoods New Balance 1000 rather than the half-and-half, split layout. Nonetheless, their layered, wavy construction is still on full display. This included, our initial looks present the 1000 as another standout retro model as New Balance continues to benefit from the current tech runner wave.
The New Balance 1000 “Silver Metallic” is set for a European release on April 24th, retailing for €170. A global and stateside drop hasn’t yet been clarified, nor has a US retail price. As always, we’ll keep this page current as new details emerge. In the meantime, enjoy a detailed gallery of images below, courtesy of AFEW.
Elsewhere for the Boston brand, the New Balance 993 “Purple Suede” arrives next month.
