Matt Varga It’s undeniable that BAPE and adidas’ ongoing partnership is defined by the Superstar. Representing the first step in their relationship all the way back in 2003, it’s been the partner’s choice for nearly a dozen distinct pairs to date, even plucked out of the lineup for three-way editions with the likes of Undefeated and atmos. More than two decades into their shared legacy, it’s no surprise that adidas and Bape hit the Superstar again, but this time they’re looping in another icon, a co-branded Shark Hoodie.
To begin with our natural focus, the adidas Bape Superstar arrives in two colorways, either utilizing embossed ABC Camo throughout the upper and swapping between white-on-blue and black-on-white. Refined detailing like gilded APE HEAD charms at the front of the lace unit and Stan Smith-esque perforations outlining the Star logo help either shoe tap into a classier side of streetwear.
For BAPE devotees, the apparel side of this offering may be the more eye-catching. Though it isn’t the first time it’s happened, the Japanese imprint meets halfway with adidas’ heritage, printing two versions of the Firebird tracksuit with more camouflage colorways, blending the aughts and the eighties. Finally, our headline pays off with a heavy co-branded zip-up hoodie, delivering a healthy dose of Trefoil and Three Stripes branding on the torso and the ineffable Shark hood up top.
The adidas BAPE Superstar retails for $160 in both colorways, with the white edition also arriving in kids’ and infants’ sizes for $80 and $70. The accompanying apparel, including the Shark hoodie in question, ranges from $25 to $220. adidas and BAPE will host simultaneous releases on April 5th via BAPE.com, CONFIRMED, and partnering retailers.
