Matt Varga Using a collaboration as a springboard for new product is genuinely one of the oldest tricks in the book when it comes to footwear. So while most likely paid closer attention to the launch of the JJJJound GEL-Kayano 14, our ears and eyes perked up with initial word of their work on the GEL-Quantum 360, initially understood to be a reconfiguration of the full-length cushioned silhouette primarily led by the Montreal brand.
With new official images surfacing, we can now confirm that the shoe in question is the GEL-Quantum 360 1 AMP, a new build launched to celebrate ten years of the series. Bucking the slitted synthetic upper of the original, the most material change with this shoe is a closed mesh construction with rubber ribbing affixed on top, pinned in two doses on the lateral quarter, one on the medial, and a subtler inclusion on the toe.
A heavier reliance on fabric overall defines this fresh spin, including the pronounced eye-stay paneling and a thicker mudguard swatch. Outside of those changes in the middle, the overall shape and cushioning package remains in place, taking a middle ground between honoring the original tech and pushing the line into new territory.
Three colorway options are expected to help debut the model: brown/black, “Pale Oak/Wood,” and “Piedmont Grey/Steel Grey.” Expect all three colorways to hit ASICS.com in July,
