The Converse Comeback Continues With Rick Owens’ Transformed One Star

With the amount of cultural purchase that Rick Owens still maintains in the fashion space, it really is worth celebrating the work that he and Converse have churned out this decade. As collaborators, the duo have brought the “DRKSHDW” to a variety of Converse icons, but they’re stepping into new territory as we look toward the close of 2025.

Coming as renewed energy encircles the Boston brand, with efforts like the Tyler, the Creator Bronco Boot and the ongoing success of the SHAI 001, Rick Owens’ next endeavor is the DRKSHDW ONESTR, a revamp of the One Star skate model that’s taken center stage in their board sport catalog. While hallmarks of Owens’ output, like an extended tongue and the mace-like star logo on the medial side, remain intact, this presents as arguably the most traditional design to come of their oeuvre yet.

All things considered, what the designer brings to the shoe is but an exaggeration of what the parent model already presents, seen with a widened sole unit that nonetheless sticks to the cup sole construction skaters are familiar with. Of course, we don’t exit without at least one transformative touch, and the hair-on-leather composition in the upper is it, spread across neutral grey and vivid lime colorways.

The Rick Owens Converse DRKSHDW ONESTR is due out on November 18th via SNKRS and Converse.com, retailing for $180 in either colorway. Keep this page close by if you’re eyeing up either (or both); we’ll stock our “Where To Buy” widgets with direct pick-up links upon release.
