One could argue that no footwear vertical has been as negatively impacted by the rise of Y2K tech runners as Nike’s stable of ’90s Air Max icons. Collectors and cult followers are still buying them, sure, but the casual consumer is no longer grabbing all-white Air Max 90s or Air Max Pluses as everyday beaters. Instead, they’re turning to the Vomero 5 and comparable models from brands like ASICS and New Balance for that same role.
