The breadth of the Kobe Bryant empire is wider and rangier than ever. Slides, Air Force 1s, and cleats have touched down alongside the usual main courses in his signature line, with seemingly no limit on where and when celebrations of his legacy can take place. As monochromatic Uptowns continue to carve out territory in the lifestyle lane, the Swoosh is set to open a new route, as a Kobe Bryant x Nike Dunk Low “Draft Day” edition comes to light.
Like those AF1 colorways, most of which have outfitted the streetwear titan in scaly treatments and some of which have come with drop-in Protro cushioning, there’s a range of tinkered aspects with Peter Moore’s design beyond just a simple palette swap. To wit, those snakeskin touches overcome the overlays here, glossy and metallic in those sections before shifting to a multicolor, matte teal across the Swoosh.
Obviously, that palette nods to the team that literally drafted Bryant, but honeycomb fabric on the collar makes it all the more concrete. In what could be the most radical touch, the usual Dunk traction makes room for the Sheath logo just under the toe. Initial information that surfaced in the middle of last year pointed to a similar Protro-style drop-in, but it’s impossible to make out that firm hardware note from these initial shots.
Release information for the Kobe Bryant x Nike Dunk Low “Draft Day” is in short supply at the time of this writing. For now, catch some detail shots below and watch our Sneaker Release Dates page for more info as it comes to light.
