First Look At The Nike Kobe 8 Protro “Easter”

When it comes to entirely new colorways, the Kobe 3 and the Kobe 3 Low are clearly the leaders within the Kobe Brand. It’s only right that they’re the belle of the ball in that regard; until the release of the Kobe NXT Prototype, that shortened Protro is truly the only real “invention” to date in the Mamba’s resurrected line. However, don’t count out some of the more established silhouettes, keeping up the energy in their own right. The Nike Kobe 8, in particular, has treated long-time fans of Swoosh Hoops to a spree of retro colorways, stretching from the “What The” Kobe 8 to the Kobe 8 “Easter.”

News of this multi-color edition hitting shelves anew first came to light in May, a representative from the era of holiday-themed multi-packs. Though the teal toe attends to the same spring-like energy that the KD 5 and LeBron X Low arrived with, still the Mamba’s squad poked through the design with blotches of purple and yellow in the upper and nocturnal black anchoring the design. Much the same as the “Mambacurial,” “Shanghai Fireworks,” or “Venice,” other period-accurate bring-backs, the colorway for 2027’s pair remains true to what fans first saw in 2013. Of course, the Protro header confirms revamped performance notes aligned with what modern athletes now expect. In the Kobe 8’s case, that means Nike React cushioning, a modified traction pattern, and a slightly retooled upper for better lockdown.
