adidas And Carbon Are Working On 3D-Printed Face Shields For Health Professionals

While Sportswear brands across the board have some exciting sneaker releases on the way, they also realize that there is absolutely no way of ignoring the unprecedented COVID-19 ordeal that our world is currently facing. Week by week, more brands have announced their intentions of lending a helping hand such as New Balance creating masks, Vans helping out small businesses through their customization platform, and most recently Nike announcing their Air Max-infused shields. And now, adidas, with the help of Carbon, has announced their pledge to create face shields for patients, as well as health care professionals working on the frontlines during this trying time. Much in similar fashion to Nike, The Three Stripes’ newly designed PPE sports a translucent guard large enough to cover the entire face, and is secured by way of their minty green 3D-printed lattice molds morphed into adjustable straps(The same materials that is used on their FUTURECRAFT 4D runners). As of now, 18,000 masks are being produced on a weekly basis out of Carbon’s manufacturing facilities in California and are being prioritized towards first responders and health workers.

The brand was recently at the middle of some controversary after CEO Kasper Rorsted’s statement regarding keeping their retail stores open prior to the US’s widespread virus outbreak. Since then, the brand as refocused and are being proactive about providing aid.
