Jovani Hernandez Over the last 16 years, James Whitner has brought a sense of community and luxury to the retail landscape by way of endeavors like Social Status, A.P.B. and A Ma Maniére. The most latter boutique – which translates into “My Way” from French – launched one of the best sneakers of 2021 (so far) in an Air Jordan 3, and it seems to have a snakeskin-covered Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG in the works.
While yet to be confirmed by Whitner or anyone associated to the project, the newly-surfaced pair shares design cues with the aforementioned drop. Akin to the first Air Jordan‘s mythical “Metallic” collection, the upcoming pair indulges in a “colorless” arrangement that allows for details around the collar, at the branding and outsole to revel in the spotlight. Instead of shades of grey, however, the retro boasts a wine-like tone at these areas, as well as the laces. Quilted padding line the inside of the shoe, while the boutique’s name shares real estate with “NIKE AIR” text on the tongue label. Lastly, ankle flaps hide both Michael Jordan’s signature and a message regarding expectations for oneself.
