Jovani Hernandez Needles may not be known in the world of footwear, but the Japanese label has lent its creative vision to handfuls of sneaker projects over the years. Recently, Keizo Shimizu’s brand has partnered with ASICS on two styles of the EX89.
Reintroduced to the world with the help of Kith in late 2022, the ASICS EX89 delivers 1980s basketball footwear flair to the modern era. Needles keeps things simple on its unreleased duo, favoring mostly black or white color schemes across the old school performance model. Purple and grey contrast enter the mix via supporting details throughout the upper and sole unit. Needles branding lands on the tongue and heel, while the Japanese label’s signature stitch lines run the length of the EX89’s body.
