John Kim UPDATE: The Victor Solomon x Nike “Trophies” collection will release on Friday, July 10th at Shoe Palace inside Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian.
Victor Solomon and Nike are running it back with one of the year’s most distinctive collaborations. Following the collection’s debut during NBA All-Star Weekend earlier this year, the Los Angeles-based artist is preparing a second chapter centered around the WNBA’s biggest weekend, trading the original white uppers for sleek black executions while preserving the intricate details that made the first collection an instant standout.
Thus far, the Air Force 1 and Air Max 90 have surfaced, each retaining Solomon’s signature aesthetic with metallic gold hardware attached to the laces and design cues inspired by his acclaimed stained-glass artwork. The Nike Air Foamposite One, which completed the original trio, has yet to be revealed, although it is expected to return as part of the upcoming release.
The Air Force 1 first leaked shortly after the original collection launched in February, while the Air Max 90 has only now emerged, offering an alternate black interpretation of the same artistic vision, allowing Solomon’s signature use of metallic detailing to take on an even more dramatic appearance.
With WNBA All-Star Weekend set for July 23rd through July 25th, Nike is very likely to drop the shoes during that three-day stretch at select retailers in the Chicago area and possibly on SNKRS.
