Nine Can’t Miss Sneaker News Headlines From March 12th To March 18th

Although it was a busy week for sneaker news, much of it could be summarized with two words: “Nike Dunks.”

Designed in 1985 by Peter Moore, the silhouette has garnered unprecedented attention over the last four years. High-profile collaborations and Nike SB releases continue to build upon the model’s lore, but the Dunk has begun 2022 with dozens of solo efforts that’ve been more accesible than past drops, allowing some consumers who previously couldn’t participate in its legacy to finally do so. Something notable from the sneaker’s run over the last three months has been the number of kid-exclusive colorways. The anniversary-celebrating Air Force 1 has also been guilty of teasing handfuls of new styles for the little ones, but not to the degree of Moore’s 37-year-old design. On the Air Jordan side of the business, NIKE, Inc. has commanded sneaker-related headlines all year long thanks to a mix of original and new styles. The Air Jordan 2 “Chicago” is anticipated to return in as close-to-OG form for the first time since 1986. An Air Jordan 3 clad in a neapolitan ice cream-reminiscent colorway ushers in new flavors (no pun intended) for the 34-year-old silhouette.

Away from any swoosh and Jumpman branding, the New Balance 550 had an outstanding week. Aimé Leon Dore teased three new colorways of the shoe as part of its Spring 2022 collection. Some Yeezys were rumored to keep YZY SZN going, while an adidas-branded Balenciaga Triple-S sneaker made sneaker fans scratch their heads.

For a look at all that and more, including four upcoming Social Status collaborations, check out our top headlines from March 5th to March 11th here below.
