Air Jordans
Michael Jordan is synonymous with winning, intensity, competition, and flying. While his game consisted mostly of the unguardable and championship-winning fadeaway jumper, Jordan was well known for his acrobatic aerial assaults, evident in his back-to-back wins in the NBA Slam Dunk Competition.. Combined with Nike’s implementation of Air cushioning, Air Jordans became the colloquial term among fans and collectors when referring to Jordan’s signature shoe.
As the Air Jordan line progressed, some of the models began using alternative methods of cushioning. For example, the Air Jordan XIV (14) used Zoom, and the Air Jordan XX (20) used the revolutionary next-generation IPS cushioning system. The Jordan XX1 (21) featured an interchangeable cushioning pod, which featured the option to choose between Air and Zoom.
Air stands for more than the cushioning of the shoe; it represents Michael Jordan’s secondary persona. He flew through the air as if it part of his natural biology, and performed mid-air manuevers that could only be imagined. Check below for a variety of information on Air Jordan.
