With summer inching closer by the day, several of the top sneaker brands continued to unveil what they’ve prepped for the warmest season of the year.
The Nike Dunk – both High and Low – was reported as landing in various styles throughout May via the Nike SNKRS app. As one of the most popular silhouettes currently on the market, the shoe has helped the Swoosh dominate wish-lists everywhere, with simple, two-tone styles like the “Panda” Dunks gaining a level of ubiquity that only a limited few designs have experienced. The Nike Air Max 97 emerged in handfuls of styles too, though none have trumped the sneaker’s original “Silver Bullet” colorway, which is expected to return before 2022 ends as part of the design’s 25th anniversary. Trail-inspired and sustainability-focused Terrascape modifications, however, have breathed new life to the quarter century-old silhouette. An early look at the once-mythical Hello Kitty x Nike Air Presto surfaced throughout the week, too, reintroducing the blend of two seemingly-disparate worlds to a new audience. Finally, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck were linked to a movie recounting the story of a young Nike corporation signing Michael Jordan. While netizens have taken to social media to express their anticipation for the film, some have questioned why news of the film revealed who’s to play relevant Nike executives instead of #23 himself. In any case, the movie is sure to garner acclaim once it finally hits theaters (and/or streaming services).
Away from any swoosh logos, adidas and New Balance delivered looks at some of their upcoming releases. Bad Bunny‘s inner circle unveiled the Forum Buckle Low silhouette in an all-new baby blue colorway. Yeezy was also linked to several upcoming launches and restocks, as was Aimé Leon Dore.
