Under Armour And Steph Curry Hit New High With The Curry 4

Under Armour And Steph Curry Hit New High With The Curry 4

Unlimited range, redefined.

By Sneaker News
Since launching their footwear division in 2009, Under Armour has had a long list of athletes they’ve collaborated with, but none as impactful as Stephen Curry, one of the best basketball players on the planet. The two-time MVP originally signed with Under Armour in October of 2013, signifying the single most important athlete signing over the last decade. The partnership has sprouted to a 4th signature shoe, one that is touted as arguably the best in the company’s young footwear history. Over the the last 4 years Curry has grown into one of the NBA’s all-time elite talents, showcasing his incredible ball handling skills and laser-precision shooting ability, while winning back to back MVP awards and leading the Golden State Warriors to two NBA Championships. After launching his 1st signature shoe in January of 2015, Steph and UA have unveiled a modernized and stylish fourth signature-shoe – one fit for the superstar as well as his young fans.
Steph has always taken the path less traveled. He wasn’t the most hyped high school prospect. He wasn’t a highlight reel name at a nationally celebrated college. He wasn’t the consensus #1 overall pick in the NBA Draft. Despite a blueprint of sorts not being available to him, he single-handedly shaped his own path to superstardom, and by partnering with Under Armour, the two were able to carve their own unique own lane. His success in the NBA has also enabled him to reach rarified status in China, allowing Under Armour to grow its brand in ways it never has before. The Curry 4 signature shoe will only elevate that reach; after he first debuted the attractive shoe during the NBA Finals earlier this year, the anticipation grew as basketball fans and sneaker blogs immediately praised Under Armour’s efforts of delivering a sneaker fit for a star of Steph’s status.

DESIGN DETAILS – According to Under Armor’s Senior Design Manager of Footwear Kort Neumann, the Curry 4 is designed and constructed to help make Curry the best possible basketball player he can be. The unique nature of the shoe combines a split knit and leather upper with intricate design details that make the shoe true to Steph. Steph’s logo is prevalent on the back heel of the midsole, on the medial side of the upper as well as on the insole. Curry’s autograph shows up on the bottom of the shoe, making it a true signature shoe. The sneaker has improved traction, step-in comfort and locked-in stability and is lightweight, enabling Steph to be nimble, to move quickly and efficiently. The Curry 4 also features an interesting knit upper seamless feel between foot providing a structural fit around the collar and forefoot for a seamless feel between the foot and the shoe.
UA’s Curry 4 campaign focuses on “More”. More support. More comfort. More traction. For more comfort, the upper features a knit internal sleeve that . The microfiber synthetic quarter panel is bonded to the knit material giving the ideal balance of support with reduced weight, while dynamic seam taping merges the knit sleeve and synthetic quarter panel without adding any stitching. It’s safe to say this is the best looking Curry shoe UA has released and seems to be the most technically sound, while holding a special place in sneaker culture and basketball history as people will remember that Steph wore this model during his second NBA Title.

MORE COLORWAYS – Debuting at retail in early October, the Curry 4 is already off on the right foot. The first Curry 4 colorway, dubbed the “More Magic”, reinterprets The Bund, a popular waterfront area that is considered one of the main attractions in Shanghai; it dropped in limited numbers in China and the U.S. on October 7th. Commemorating Curry’s second NBA title, a highly collectible Curry 4 “More Rings” Pack, a fresh take on a traditional Championship Pack, was released on October 17 and sold out quickly as well. The clean and simple Curry 4 White/Black hit select retailers on October 27 , while the Curry 4 “More Fun” reflected playful attitude and laid back lifestyle released worldwide. Additionally, UA teamed up with XBOX and Mache Customs to customize the Curry 4 “More Power” which was an exclusive, seeded pair that came with a game console to VIP/Friends/Family.
