Given the number of swoosh and Jumpman logos that appear on hardwood courts, storied pitches and other battlegrounds, it’s difficult avoiding work coming out from NIKE, Inc.’s world headquarters.
Over the last week, official and unofficial looks at upcoming Air Jordan retros, Nike Air Max models and more took over the news cycle. With growing sentiment across the internet that the summer has been lackluster, the North American sportswear behemoth continues to demonstrate that it’s keeping excitement alive on the footwear front, with propositions like the Jordan Luka 1, Air Jordan 37 and Nike Zoom Freak 4 introducing new designs and technology to the market.
Outfitters like ASICS, Vans and Reebok have also made noise over the last seven days. All three companies may not have the same stateside appeal as NIKE, Inc., but they’ve consistently showcased a commitment to innovation and collaboration. The two most latter companies came together with former partners, while the Japanese institution unveiled one of the most eyebrow-raising, but intriguing propositions in the laceless footwear space: the Actibreeze 3D slide. Riddled with perforations throughout the entirety of the molded design, the pair brings breathability to a whole new level, while also capitalizing on the slide, clog and mule craze largerly credited to Yeezy and Crocs.
