“VIRGIL IS STILL HERE”
Just shy of two months after Virgil Abloh passed away, friends and family of the Off-White frontman took to social media to share exclusive pairs of the Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 they had received. All pairs showcased, which indulge in predominantly tonal colorways, served as precursors to news from the French luxury house about the first release of Abloh’s expansive collaboration between it and the Swoosh. Before a wider launch exclusively at LV stores, Sotheby’s will help auction 200 pairs of a special “Monogram” pair between January 26th and February 8th, with bids starting at $2,000 USD. The pairs will arrive with an orange debossed leather carrying case, which will also not see a commercial release.
YEEZY JUMPED INTO THE JUMPMAN?
It’s no secret that the being formerly known as “Kanye West” is currently enjoying his time in spotlight like never before. In addition to calling attention via new music and romantic flings, Ye has maintained himself relevant with his adidas Yeezy imprint. And while the dozens of Yeezy release dates that have been long-rumored or already confirmed, the 44-year-old shook things up to the umpteenth degree when he took to Instagram to share an image of the Jumpman logo. Ye’s post also featured screenshots of a comment Marcus Jordan, son of Michael Jordan and founder of Trophy Room, made about wanting to facilitate a conversation between his father, the former-Mr. West and DJ Khaled, one of Brand Jordan’s most visible extended family members and collaborators. The latter two have been spotted working on music recently, which has only fueled speculation that a three-way collaboration may be in the works. Over the last two years, the former NIKE, Inc. partner has shown admiration for various products from the Swoosh, even going as far as wearing the Air Jordan 1 “Court Purple” because, according to Ye, you can’t deny Jordans from a Black man.
